The ability to speak a second language and to understand the cultures using that language has never been more important in our students' lives than today. Now, more than ever before, business is conducted at a multinational level and the demographics of our own country's schools, workforce, and neighborhoods are becoming increasingly diverse.
The study of French language, literature, and history helps student to understand other cultures as well as their own and to develop an appreciation of the variety of human experience and expression.
The French program offers courses in French, beginning in Transitional Kindergarten and progressing through the Eighth Grade. Each student benefits from a sequential program stressing the humanistic aspect of foreign-language study. This is a proficiency-oriented program. The overall aim is to develop the ability of the student with a view toward the use of the language for communication. Language skills are developed along with knowledge of the culture of those countries in which the language is spoken.
During elementary school, the program provides an overview of the basic principles of French spelling, pronunciation, and grammar. As the students enter Middle School, French instruction focuses on oral proficiency and also helps students develop skills in listening, writing, and reading. By the end of Eighth Grade, students are prepared for French II or III at the High School level.
Research indicated that the number of years a student studies a foreign language has a direct correlation with high verbal SAT scores. Five years of foreign language study are associated with higher verbal SAT scores, as opposed to five years of any other academic subject. Reasoning ability, verbal intelligence, cognitive flexibility, and divergent thinking have all been demonstrated to improve through foreign language study. Research has also demonstrated higher aptitude for acquiring computer languages in students who continue foreign language study. As students become more familiar with the syntax and grammar of a foreign language, they apply this knowledge to login to artificial computer language as well.
The R.I.S.E. Russian Language Program offers an immersive learning environment where students not only acquire knowledge and skills of spoken and written language, but also learn about Slavic culture, traditions, and history.
Rooted in Vygotsky’s Social Development Theory, our program emphasizes the crucial role of social interaction between children acquiring a new language and linguistically knowledgeable adults. Together with their teacher and through mediated interactions, students create their learning world which then serves as the context of language development. This learning environment provides children with supportive communicative structure that allows efficient communication even at the earliest stages of studying the language.
Our experienced bilingual (and multilingual) teachers use different methods and teaching techniques to address the needs of all types of learners and make the process of language study enjoyable and a memorable journey. They work together with the students towards language proficiency and competency. We strongly believe that studying foreign languages will help our students to become global citizens in the global world and build bridges among the different cultures.

The R.I.S.E. Spanish Language Program provides students with an opportunity to complete the curriculum in a nontraditional way – by immersing themselves in the Spanish language and culture from Kindergarten through Eighth grade. Students become proficient in both Spanish and English, while learning the same curriculum content as their peers in the traditional English classrooms. Research indicates that by the end of 5th grade, students generally score noticeably higher in math and literacy on standardized tests than students in traditional programs. Most children don’t begin learning about other cultures until pretty well on into their education. R.I.S.E. invests in your child’s Spanish curriculum at an early age. This provides a base for a broader education and appreciation of other cultures later in life.
Our Spanish Program is designed for students with little or no previous knowledge or exposure to Spanish. Students will be introduced to the sound system and grammatical structure of the Spanish language. The focus will be on developing skills in the areas of listening, speaking, basic reading, and writing. R.I.S.E. students will have a basic understanding of Spanish grammar, including word formation, verb conjugation, idiomatic expressions, and cognates. R.I.S.E. students will also acquire a knowledge of the geography, culture, and people of the regions where Spanish is spoken and of Spanish-speakers' contributions to North American and world cultures.

Early Language Skills Are Developed For their first eight years of life, children are naturally acquiring language skills. They learn through imitation, songs, and a variety of other methods. After eight or 10 years, a child starts to lose these innate abilities, making it much more difficult to learn a second language and retain what they’ve learned. If you take advantage of the time period in which your child is naturally learning new languages, it’s likely that they will have a much easier time learning Spanish and actually retaining what they’ve been taught through Spanish storybooks sets and other fun tools.
Spanish is Widely Spoken Spanish is the official language of 21 countries around the world, and there is a large population of Spanish-speakers in the United States. In a world that is increasingly multilingual, it makes sense that your child should be, as well.
